Another photo of the actors

Here is a shot for the newspaper. The idea is that Einstein is explaining his theory to Sagot, Germaine the barmaid, and Freddy the bar owner. This scene does not appear in the play, but there were only four of us available for photos yesterday. The painting behind Germaine's head is a copy of a 1906 Matisse that I did. Made the frame, too.

We will have a warm-up rehearsal tomorrow and then finish out the run Friday and Saturday nights. I am eager to present the play a couple more times, but even more anxious to shave off this little mustache and goatee.

This is my 200th post but it is not exactly earth-shattering. Glad you stopped by.

OK, I'm a bit confused about where you fit into all this.

1/ You're the actor standing to Germain's right?
2/ You make the props and all.
3/ You direct the play?

And, What is the play really about since I won't be able to see the play as I'm not stopping by in Fake Cow Town anytime soon.

Congrats on the post!!

STILL wishing I could see this play. I'm going to have to read it, at least.

I tagged you for a simple li'l meme. Enjoy!

(Carolanne - I know he's the guy in the purple, next to the German dude. If that helps...)

And you're going to shave off the goatee??? That's just sad...

Thanks to all for your comments!

Carolanne, I am indeed the man in the lilac suit and I only made one prop for this show. I am not directing; that would be our Department of Theater Director. I have been in a number of plays that he has directed and he is really good at it. For this play, I have been the dialogue coach, at least for the ones who have to have a French accent.

If you search the internet for "Picasso Lapin Agile" you will find many reviews and descriptions. Essentially, the play examines the question of genius--where does it come from and of what does it consist. The two main characters are Einstein and Picasso who meet in a Parisian bar. Everyone who comes into the bar is trying to prove that they are a genius at something. (My character is brilliant at getting people to buy artwork.) Einstein, focusing on the head, and Picasso, focusing on the heart, finally arrive at a meeting point when they agree that they are trying to create a new reality. Then Elvis makes a surprise appearance and raises the question, "Is popularity genius?"

It is a fun play with lots of levels of humor. If you can't come see the production I am in, try to see it elsewhere.

That man in the front reminded me of Richard Simmons at first. The facial hair certainly changes your looks. I side with Rach, I think it will be sad to see it go!

Congrats on post #200!!

Yeah, well, neither one of you is kissing my wife! I assure you, the experience is much better without the facial sandpaper.

Y'all should see Little David close up with the facial hair and the longer wavy locks. He really does look French.

Does your character actually speak French during the play?

Sagot's dialogue does not include any French words, but the director is having us speak with a French accent. in a few places, I have substituted French words like "Mais alors" where Martin had written expletives. It helps me to say my lines with the proper accent if I translate them into French in my head.
