Tomb progress
Once the skin was on, this is what the tomb looked like. On the right, I think you can see the "stone" that would roll in front of the opening. The tomb is light enough that I can tilt the whole thing on its back and lift it upright by myself. We just hope the wind isn't blowing to hard this weekend. As it is the temperature expectations are now mid-twenties with 20% chance of snow and 25-mile-per-hour winds on Wednesday. Hmmmm.
With paint on the skin, it kind of looks like a strange Disneyland attraction. But from a distance, at night, perhaps it will look sufficiently stony. Thanks to Rachel who helped with painting. And I have seen the faceless Santa in front of her office building. I have to say that the decorations on that side of the street look pretty bedraggled. Did Rachel and Mindy offend some city worker?

That is amazing. You and SpookyRach do some great work. Welcome back :)
Excuse me.....now how in the world would Rach and I offend anyone?? You know how shy and reserved we are!
Thanks for the comments, R2Ks. I will post a photo of the tomb as it finally appears when we have set it into place.
POE(&TS)--of course, I was speaking of inadvertently offending a city worker. Maybe one who is not so amused by Shriner clown driving techniques.
So, what are you going to do with your "tomb" when the weekend is over? It's not really the kind of thing you leave sitting on your desk so you can take pictures of it and post it on your blog for an internet guessing game.
Wo. You guys are serious. If we staged a production like that, there would be no one left in the congregation to watch! So, yeah. What are you going to do with it? Rach did a good job painting, and you did some amazing work here.
And thank you for the magnet and zipper pull!!
Patti, the point is to invite the community to come see the presentation. See, we are setting up six scenes outside, mostly from the nativity story, and we are driving little trailers around that people can ride on. At each scene, a narrator tells part of the nativity story. Each scene has actors to portray whatever the narrator is saying. Last year we had about a thousand people from the community (some church members) ride around to see the story.
And Running2Ks, you are welcome. Did you figure out the magnet (If you CARROT all, eat your veggies)?
Jonboy, we are going to attach eyebolts to the back of it and use pulleys and rope to haul it up into the rafters of the warehouse. Or maybe just cover it with huge tarp and leave it in the warehouse yard.
Yes, and it is hilarious and clever ;)
He's just being gracious, Patti. I actually painted only a very small part of the tomb. The picture is showing his work. (He's pretty good!)
You know Super Katie could use something like that as a play house.
